Meal and rest breaks in Florida

Florida's break rule applies to minors only.

Does Florida require breaks for adults?

We could not find a Florida law requiring meal or rest breaks for adult employees. Florida Statutes section 450.081 requires a 30-minute meal break for minors: for those 15 and younger after 4 hours of continuous work, and for 16- and 17-year-olds after 4 hours of continuous work when they work 8 hours or more in a day (with some exceptions).

Do breaks have to be paid?

That depends on employer policy and federal rules. Under federal rules, short breaks are generally work time, and a bona fide meal period when the employee is fully relieved of duty is not.
