Equal pay
Federal law requires that men and women in the same workplace get equal pay for equal work, and prohibits pay discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability. Many states have their own equal pay and pay transparency laws.
Does the job title have to be the same?
No. The question is whether the jobs require substantially equal skill, effort and responsibility under similar conditions.
Can I compare pay with coworkers?
The NLRB describes talking with co-workers about wages as protected concerted activity, with coverage limits. See its page.
How do I file?
With the EEOC; deadlines apply.
